Capitol Hill Golf Club, is a Public, 54 hole golf facility located in Prattville, Alabama and is part of Alabama's Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. The facility has three championship 18 hole golf courses. They are, The Judge, The Senator, and The Legislator.
The Judge plays alongside the 200 acre glistening backwaters of the Alabama River. The first tee lies 200 feet above the fairway overlooking the Alabama River and the skyline of Montgomery. With 14 holes adjoining the water and a stunning bulkhead island green, the Judge is described as simply magnificent and provides some of the most spectacular scenery and golf holes in the world.
As part of our journey playing the various courses on the Trail, we arrived on a very wet and rainy morning. We decided to go ahead and play in the rain despite the soggy conditions. The course played pretty well and seemed to drain nicely. The greens rolled true, but we did have to move our putts around a few times to avoid puddles.
This is one of the best and hardest courses on the Trail with a very dramatic opening tee shot that drops 160' or so and must land between a lake and a swamp. Lots of water hazards but the fairways are generous enough. Loved about 16 of the holes with only a few being a bit too tight and unfair. Still, this is the best course at Capitol Hill. We had the course to ourselves, so the round went quickly!
