As part of our journey playing the various courses on the Trail, we arrived on a very wet and rainy morning. We decided to go ahead and play in the rain despite the soggy conditions. The course played pretty well and seemed to drain nicely. The greens rolled true, but we did have to move our putts around a few times to avoid puddles.

This is one of the best and hardest courses on the Trail with a very dramatic opening tee shot that drops 160' or so and must land between a lake and a swamp. Lots of water hazards but the fairways are generous enough. Loved about 16 of the holes with only a few being a bit too tight and unfair. Still, this is the best course at Capitol Hill. We had the course to ourselves, so the round went quickly!

The Judge course requires very accurate shot making. Water, Water, Water everywhere. Some fairways have water on both sides and narrow landing areas. From the pro tees, this course is long and demanding. What saves it for me is there are five different tee boxes, so you can choose the length suitable for your handicap and still have a great day. I played this course twice, both times starting at 4:00 pm and finished both rounds in 2 hours and 15 minutes, so at the right time "pace of play" is terrific. Plus I paid the twight light rates which saved some money over the regular green fees.

Wow, plan on playing this one twice. Too much for the first round. Play one day, play the other course, then come back... great trip...

Very challenging from mid-back tees. Beautiful course with many visually intimidating shots. Only major con was condition of bunkers with hard packed and very little sand. A fair, good test that was very enjoyable.
