Had frost delay so got off 90 minutes late. Pace was good. Course conditions were good. Had an enjoyable round. Price was too much for course.

Winds through desert terrain, with a fair amount of elevation change. Fairways are moderate width, and on most holes balls much off the fairway are in the desert. A fairly short course that puts a premium on accuracy. Greens were in very good condition, though slower than I am used to.

I visit the Phoenix/Scottsdale area every couple of years and have played all of the "big name" courses such as Troon, the Boulders, TPC, We-Ko-Pa, Grayhawk. Talking Stick etc. I was looking for something off the beaten path and less expensive. This course was a real find and exceeded my expectations. As others have posted, it is not long, but that does not make it easy. It is a very tight course so straight tee shots are imperative and you need to know where to miss a green as a near miss to the wrong spot can roll very far away. There are lots of elevation changes including a couple of par threes that play steeply down hill, requiring much less club than the distance would indicate. The uphill dogleg par 4 is a great and beautiful hole. The day I played Rancho Manana there was a strong wind making for an intereting round. There are a lot of super views, scenery and wildlife. We saw a Lynx or bobcat on one of the tee boxes. I got paired up with a great threesome and the bar/restaraunt on the premises was also excellent after the round. The twilight rate green fee was a real bargain, although there are a lot of good deals in the area in June. Here is a link to my photos of Rancho Manana, Troon North and We-Ko-Pa http://sports.webshots.com/album/563720024mtsCgK?start=60

Fun course with lots of character. Beautiful views and one of the most scenic courses. Short but very challenging. Placement is very important. Traps were hard and pace of play pretty slow, but can't complain. Very nice restaurant and clubhouse.

Have played this course many, many times and it is a wonderful par 70 layout. 6 par 3's and the usual 4 par 5's. Course give you nothing cheap and 4 of the 6 par 3's are not easy par holes. Most greens have movement. Desert golf with elevation changes.

Don't let the rating 66.6/128 nor the short distance (6016) from the blues fool you. This is a lot of golf and fun, too. The ladies will enjoy the meaningful advantage from the front tees. Great scenery, layout and conditions. Good value.
