Detailed description

We-Ko-Pa Golf Club is a daily fee 36 golf facility located in Fort McDowell, Arizona. The facility has two, 18-hole golf courses. They are The Cholla Course and The Saguaro Course.

We-Ko-Pa Golf Club consists of the original 18 holes, The Cholla Course, designed by Scott Miller.

The second 18 holes, The Saguaro Course, was designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. The Saguaro Course opened Saturday, December 16, 2006.

In addition to the two 18-hole courses, there is a large practice facility and a full service clubhouse. We-Ko-Pa Golf Club has been developed and is owned by the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation and is operated by EF Golf and OB Sports Golf Management.

The courses are located just east of Scottsdale and Fountain Hills, Arizona and enjoy dramatic views of the Sonoran desert and the surrounding mountains.

I played this course on a vacation I had been planning for a year... I was not disappointed. This was the best course I played.

I had played the original course (Cholla) a few years ago and loved it. Played the new course (Saguaro) this time and loved it even more. maybe because I played very well. The fairways here are very wide and forgiving and the views are spectacular. You need a good short game to score well here. The rate in June is $75 which is pretty good compared to local rates in the Winter. They let a fivesome out in front of us which could have been a problem, but they didn't play too slowly. We only got backed up on the par 3's. I went straight to the airport from the course (about 3o minutes away) and the shower facilites are not up to the same quality as the course as there is really no locker room to speak of. If you need locker room/shower facilities Troon, the Boulders and Grayhawk are much better, but this course is as good as any of those. These two tracts are always a treat. Every year I come to Arizona I am sure to include these in my itinerary. Conditions, layout are second to none. There will be no regrets by a first time player at WeKoPa!

This course (actually two courses) is worth the trip and the money! Off season (summer) is HOT, but cheap. Iced towels are a nice feature! Saguaro is newer (less than a year old) and needs a bit of aging. Cholla is fabulous and ranks in beauty with Bighorn CC in Palm Desert!
