Detailed description

Seascape Golf Course, is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Aptos, California.

Seascape Golf Club offers today's golfers a step back in time to roam a classic course while the sound of ocean waves crash in their ears. Built in 1926 as Rio Del Mar Country Club. During World War II, the golf course served as a "victory garden" to help grow crops for the nation's war effort. It was reclaimed at war's end as Seascape, an exceedingly playable 18 holes spread over 6,000 yards.

Seascape is perched on the coastal highlands of the northern Monterey Peninsula. The course is largely protected from wind by the cypress, Monterey pine and eucalyptus trees lining the course. Barely a half-mile from the crashing waves of the Santa Cruz coast, Seascape's classic design features manicured fairways and well positioned bunkers that guard small tricky greens.

I have played here occasionally for 20 years. The course is interesting and playable. The drawback is the poor driving range. It has always been "irons only", and this time the range and chipping green were in a sorry state of disrepair. I really hate to step to the first tee not having hit even one practice ball with the driver. On the plus side, the staff were very helpful and well-organized for our tournament.

I've played this course dozens of times and hope to hundreds more. It's my favorite course with plenty of challenge and ambiance, like Disneyland for golfers, with an especially friendly staff and excellent food quality and service.

Play early (by 8am) on the weekends otherwise pace of play can be slow. Look for online deals or sign up on their website for email deals to get the best value.

Greens were the best I have ever seen them. Quirky course with houses along fairways, but some neat holes. One of the courses that always draws me back because I enjoy it so much regardless of how I score.

Probably the best public course in the Santa Cruz area other than Pasatiempo. Very sporty, a lot of fun, makes you think a bit.

As a high handi-capper even I loved the challenge of this course...equal number of narrow vs. "wide" fairways..as an equal number of "canyon" setting vs. flat fairways. Greens were a good mixture of pleasantly accommidating vs. "diabolical"! Perhaps a few more trees that most would like and a few houses surround the course but are not very "visable" as the golfer is always forced to look at his next target.
