The course was designed by William P. Bell. Golf was first played at Riverside in 1939.

Watch out for # 4, a 423 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 18, a 469 yard par-5.
Riverside has been recently remodeled, with a new irrigation system. There has been a lake added to the right of #4, the number 1 handicap hole on the course. The lake comes in to play on #4, 5, and #17.
The course was in decent shape, but the price is a bit high with a cart, about $33 on weekdays.
The layout is very challenging, and is a good test of the good to average golfer. The greens were in good shape, and overall, the course was average for the Fresno Area non-private courses.
