I love playing this course. The greens and fairways are usually impeccable. The views cannot be beat and the wildlife is amazing. Watch for the bears near the "chip shot". Scared the crap out of me!

The course is in very good condition this year, with no bare spots like last year. Pace of play was the best this year compared to other years. The young staff members are not as knowledgable or friendly as in past years.

Considering there was 6 feet of snow on the course 60 days earlier, it was in remarkable condition. You can't beat the scenery anywhere. Better hit it straight as the course is narrow and built through the forest.

This course is truly amazing; I played with one of my sons. Mike told me to be sure and bring my clubs. At $125, the course was well worth the money. The staff and attendants very helpful, starter said enjoy the play and take time to enjoy views, pictures are recommended, I was sorry I did not bring my camera. Tee box and green photos would be worthy of most living room walls. Sierra Star is one of the best course values I have ever enjoyed, would play again, in fact will try to arrange a date for all my sons and I to enjoy next spring. The food and beverage service was appreciated, try the bratwurst if you are so inclined. Use of the driving range is encouraged, just to get your swing and tempo down, you may find your playing longer in the thinner air. At 66 years young, a few drives were just short of 300 yards, very nice for an old goat like me.

It well worth lugging my clubs up to Mammoth to play this gem. The first green was in rough shape but after that it was great. With the wind, elevation changes, layout and elevation, it makes for a challenging round. The staff in the pro shop was helpful and I'd recommend to anyone there during the summer "off season".
