Detailed description

The Club at Pasadera, previously named The Nicklaus Club and before that named Pasadera Country Club, is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Monterey, California.

The golf course first opened for play in 2000. The course was designed by Jack Nicklaus.

The property’s history dates to the late 1700s when it was settled by Spanish missionaries from Mexico on land named Rancho Laguna Seca, part of what then was Alta California. In 1821 it fell from Spanish rule to Mexico until the end of the Mexican-American War in 1848.

The property was purchased in 1953 and transformed into a sizable thoroughbred horse farm and renamed Laguna Seca Ranch.  It was then developed as Pasadera Country Club, with the new golf course as the centerpiece of a 565-acre, master-planned Pasadera community.

In 2013, Pasadera Country Club was rebranded as Nicklaus Club-Monterey. In 2018 the property was again sold, and the name has come almost full circle. The course was renamed, The Club at Pasadera.

The 14th hole is a par 3 perched atop a dramatic bluff, playing a full carry across a deep, rugged canyon to a sizable green.

Nicklaus Club is a par 71 course.  The course has six par 3s, five par 5s, and seven par 4s, with five sets of tees that range from 5,003 from the front to 6,756 at the back.

Played with my associate club. All enjoyed the course. As with most courses, would play it better now being more familiar. One other reviewer mentioned 14th hole - played it from the whites and just a great hole.

Excellent golf course! Challenging and playable, with greens in near perfect condition. The 14th hole is not to be missed -- a visual delight that has risk and reward from every tee location. I highly recommend this golf course.

First of all I have only one hand. the course is very fairway friendley. I drove 150 miles and would do it again in a heart beat. The course was in great condition. I however have a little trouble getting out of the long ruff. My first time I now know how I would attack the course. I had a great time and look forward to playing the course again.By the way my club South City Caddyshackers (32)played there for the first time and they all enjoyed the course and also said they would play it again.

The course is beautiful, the greens are challenging in that they present as small, challenging targets, have lots of undulations (everyone has character) and are fast. The staff are friendly, professional and competent, and to top it all off, the weather was perfect! Downside: the course is not walkable so if you prefer to walk rather than ride then this is not the course for you.

Pebble Beach is still number one, Cypress is two and Pasadera ties for three with Spyglass and Bayonet

WOW Truly perfect bent grass greens - fastest greens in the area. 12-13 on stimp. Course has so much local knowledge that it made the first time out a little more difficult. Needed a yardage book but there wasn't one available. I would play again in a heartbeat. WOW
