You really can't find a stronger challenge carved gently out of a parking lot anywhere. The Golds are now 7228yds. Even the blue tees are a 72.9/130. Its tough. And that's the reason so many of SoCal's top players hone their games here. But it is a "muni". It does get too much play. And its a parking lot too many weekends a year. If I joined the toney country club next door, I'd still play Brookside for the complete skills assessment it can deliver. I enjoy an occasional round on #2 as well for its variety of short game challenges. On both courses, Winter and Spring are kinder to the condition of the greens.

I played Brookside Golf Club -Number One on Sunday. It is under some construction as #8, a par-3 has the water drained and it is basically a dirt ditch up until the green. Also there are numerous areas under repair, dirt piles and gravel.

I could see this course being pretty good if it was in decent shape.

I actually got a discount rate for internet booking so I can't complain too much but if I'd paid full price I'd be very upset.

One of my regular stops. I get a discount since I live in area. #1 course the better of the 2. #1 can play long but it's a good layout. Condition of course is usual muni.

It's my home course. We get a discount as members. It is a solid golf course that American Golf has improved with its changes over the years. Well worth the price.

I think both of the Brookside courses are overpriced in comparison with say Santa Anita in Arcadia, San Dimas Canyon in San Dimas and Mountain Meadows in Pomona. My playing partner and I went to Brookside because of a discounted coupon received from American Golf via the internet. He made the reservation and did not realize that the discounted coupon, which would have been for $31 instead of $41 was only good for the No. 2 E.O. Nay Course, not the No1, Koiner Course. Since our reservation was for No. 1, not No. 2, we did not get the discount. We were given the Senior Discount.

The course is in great condition. Fairways and greens are great. Some of the traps are in need of some more sand.

I play these 2 courses a lot, living in Pasadena they are very good tests and from the back tees require you to hit it a long way.

Beautiful established course that meanders around the Rose Bowl with old trees, great conditioned fairways and greens.
