Detailed description

Bernardo Heights Country Club is a Private 18 hole golf course located in San Diego, California. You must be a member or an invited guest to play golf at Bernardo Heights.

The Bernardo Heights Golf Course opened for play in 1983. The course was designed by Ted Robinson.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 6,679 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,053 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 4, a par-5 that plays to 551 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 3, a par-3 that plays to 165 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 7, a 383 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. Finding the fairway is a necessity on this par-4 as the uphill approach is to a very small putting surface is made harder by very well placed bunkers. Regardless of where the flagstick is, the middle of the green is the best way for you to minimize your score.

The easiest hole is # 2, a 470 yard par-5. Longer players will have a chance to go for the green in two, but most will try to avoid the lateral water hazard on their lay-up second shot. From there, a wedge to the green gives you a chance to make par or better.

Blue tees: par-72, 6,679 yards, 73.0 / 133

White tees: par-72, 6,221 yards, 70.4 / 128

Gold tees: par-72, 5,839 yards, 68.8 / 124.0

Ladies Gold tees: par-72, 5,839 yards, 75.4 / 134

Red tees: par-72, 5,601 yards, 74.0 / 131

Teal tees: par-72, 5,053 yards, 70.9 / 125

Fairways and greens continue to get better. Greens are quick and the small varations make them challenging.

There isn't a better private golf course in Rancho Bernardo and Poway area. Changed out the superintendent about a year ago and he has done a great job. Greens are great, rolling around 11 on the stimpmeter. Will have well installed by July. Great future for this club.

New super is putting this course back on the map. Club is installing a well that will get them off the shackles of city water. Nothing but a great future for this course.

Going through a transition of always overseeding to no overseeding and doing everything to promote all bermuda in the future. Great everyday country club home course with outstanding food and staff. Earlier review is wrong - we have our own course maintainence and actually just hired a new green superintendent.

Wonderful layout and extremely challenging. Blue Tee Group is a great group to get involved with. Their Super doesn't seem to be very good. A lot of neglect around the course, but the layout makes up for any misgivings. All they need to do is change their superintendent.

Although it is private, Bernardo Heights has increasing and serious problems. Water and course conditions are the biggest. They use city water and skyrocketing costs have been translated into deteriorating course conditions. The do not have their own maintenance and it now really shows. There are better private club alternatives in the area.

The course has gone through many renovations recently, including all new fairways being put in. The greens are in fantastic shape. A difficult track, keep it in the fairway and don’t overshoot the greens and you will do well
