The front nine is narrow and lined with oak trees, the back nine has water hazards coming into play on five holes and numerous sand bunkers.

Watch out for # 8, a 402 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 17, a 156 yard par-4.
The signature hole is #13, a 215-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot past the large lake that borders the left side of the green. This is my second time to play the wonderful La Cumbre golf course and the first time I was so impressed I wrote the G.M. a letter.
The second visit confirmed my first impression, this place must have some of the best ground staff in the country and the members take care of the course. Not a divot hole anywhere and the incredibly receptive but fast greens make hitting past the hole and spinning it back possible for even the average golfer.
