Old Greenway is an 18 hole semi-private golf course located in Truckee, California.
Nestled among 600 acres of towering pines and surrounded by beautiful mountain vistas lies, Old Greenway is a Jack Nicklaus design. The course opened in 2004.
Jack Nicklaus Signature Courses have received Jack's highest level of personal attention. Old Greenwood was rated No. 4 among America's finest new "Upscale Public Courses" by Golf Digest in 2005. And Golf Magazine rated it one of the 10 Best New Public-Access Courses in the Country (February 2005).
Originally built as a private club, this premium semi-private facility has the views, conditioning, and layout that warrant its $200 green fees.
Disappointed.
Played twilight rates w/ NCGA discount for $100.00. Although its a forest course, I got the feeling, like w/ most developements, the houses got the best land and the golf course came last. For its location in the forests of Truckee, not many spectacular views or holes. A few of the last holes (15-17) border a deep ridge/ravine with stunning vistas but all in all, not many doglegs, most holes play straightand are fairly routine. Great bunkers. Great condition, though greens were bordering on rock hard.
Final opinion. Not worth the big bucks. Wouldn't play again.
