Detailed description

Country Way Golf Course is an 18 hole semi-private executive golf course located in Tampa, Florida.

This is truly an executive course built on 53 acres in 1989. The course was designed by Steve Smyers.

These 18 holes of beautifully manicured and undulating greens are located in Waters Avenue in north western Hillsborough County and offer a good test to all golfers. Countryway plays to par 61 with eleven par 3's and seven par 4's. The course has many hills that will cause uneven lies in the fairways, plus water hazards coming into play on several holes. Both the greens and fairways are undulating.

The hole rated #1 for difficulty is #7, a 195-yard, par 3, requiring an accurate tee shot to the green or else you'll end up in one of the water hazards which come into play on each side of the fairway.

Very nice executive course. Great for your short game. I like playing this course on a weekday afternoon because the pace of play is great. If you play this courses on a weekend or when it's busy, the pace of play can be murder. I have found weekday afternoons to be great. Great value for the price ($15 w/cart), unless it is crowded, in which case, skip the golf and go wash the car.

Coutry way is a great executive course. It is always well maintained and is great place to practice your short game. It is a par 61, so even the duffer fills good when he shoots 10 - 15 less than his normal score. Good for the ego. On the other hand, the course is maintained like a more expensive course and has great eye appeal and is a real test of your short game. Compared to all courses, it is about average. Compared to courses where you only pay $15, including cart, it is a bargain and exceeds expectations. This is a super place for a quick round of golf. I gave it a 5 star for value. One of the best $15 courses/golf experiences/with cart that you can find.

I have only played once on this course with my kids 12 and 8 both beginning golfers. Their tee times are only 6 or 7 minutes apart on Sunday. I am a 16 handicap golfer, I can't possibly finish a hole in 7 minutes, I can't finish it in 13 which is regulation, nor can anyone else, except those who improve their lies, give each other 8 foot putts and what have you.
Every hole starting with 1 thru 18 required a 8-10 minute wait. Why not just have 10 or 12 minute tee time intervals and let people enjoy themselves. On the other most players there were older and perhaps for them these are not important issues. I take my kids to Chi Chi or Silver Dollar now, where they can learn to play good golf without having to rush or feel rushed.
The ranger was rude, unwilling to accept that having to wait on each and every hole was simply unacceptable. Possibly playing this course Mon-Fri might be better, but I won't be going there ever again.
But its not a bad layout however.
