Detailed description

Northdale Golf & Tennis Club, is a Semi-Private, 18 hole golf course located in Tampa, Florida.

Northdale is considered a true "Florida" course cut out of the natural terrain. Opened in 1978, designed by Ron Garl, the course plays 6,800 yards from the tips and has 4 sets of tees. The course was constructed over 180 acres of land, and only two fairways are parallel to each other.

The fairways are tree-lined and the medium sized greens are undulating and of moderate speed. The course is best suited for Mid/High handicaps. In addition, water hazards come into play on eleven holes. There are enough hazards to challenge the most experienced of golfer including strategic bunkering (50 situated along fairways or geeenside), rolling terrain and contoured greens all combined to create a challenging yet fair and fun golf experience

Very nice course with excellent greens. Will probably play again but I believe it was overbooked. We had a 10:12 tee time but didn't get to tee off until almost 11. We were a threesome and it took over 5 hours to play. To his credit the manager offered a two for one for the next round after I emailed him. I will probably play again but will check how busy beforehand.

Northdale is a fun course for a solid value. The greens are in excellent shape and overall the course is in good condition. The clubhouse leaves much to be desired, but there are enough bars and restaurants nearby if you want to get a bite to eat or a beer.

New greens make all the difference. Course is getting better since the greens replaced last summer. Staff very pleasent. Have limited clubhouse, but freindly spot for an after round libation.

The greens are in very bad shape, could be a fungus. The course looks far worse under the current ownership & appears to be on par with a municipal course, & not a good one.

I like the course layout and on the paradise card its price is not too bad. But its unpredictable what condition the course might be in. Could be good or it can be awful, especially the greens. Must be a fairly old course because the homes on the course look old and take away from the course in terms of ambiance. I will go back and play there, but its not a course I would recommend. Without the paradise card the rates are too high. Most courses charge way to much. This course would not be in the top 25 for my area which is Northwest Tampa. But on the other hand I don't mind traveling an hour or two to get to a good course.

For the price Northdale typically charges, the course does not live up to the reputation. But overall, it is a challenging course and I had a good time playing. The greens are usually disappointing.
