Detailed description

The Harvester Golf Club is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Rhodes, Iowa.

The Harvester Golf Club first opened for play in 2003. The course was designed by Keith R. Foster.

The Harvester Golf Club is a high-end public, daily-fee facility featuring a championship 18-hole golf course. The Tournament Course stretches over 300 acres and boasts dramatic elevation changes throughout its design (up to 110-feet in some areas). The course plays around Lake Harvester and there are several small ponds and streams coming into play on the course. The rolling fairways play through natural wetlands and densely wooded areas. The greens are large (averaging 7,500 square feet) and a challenge to putt. Bunkering is at a minimum, but those that are present are generally large, flat and well placed to reinforce risk/reward play.

The Harvester Tournament Course plays from 5,115 to a whopping 7,240-yards, and there are five sets of tees to challenge all skill levels. From 7,240 yards, the par-72 layout carries a course rating of 75.3 and a slope rating of 133.

in my opinion, this is the best course in Iowa, with the only viable competition being Glen Oaks in West Des Moines. It is a beautiful course that is challenging and has fantastic greens. Lots of different shots are needed to score well, but the course is pretty wide and accommodates higher handicap golfers. This is just a fantastic course.

Harvester is a pretty special round. The 3/4 mile road from the highway to the clubhouse creates an unusual sense of isolation. The layout is stern, with large elevation changes, thick rough, and slick greens. The par 5 15th is just awesome. A must play if in the Des Moines area.
