Detailed description

Sunriver Resort -Meadows, is a Resort, 18 hole golf course located in Sunriver, Oregon.

The resort boasts 63 holes of golf: The 18-hole Crosswater Course was designed by Robert Cupp; the 18-hole Meadows Course was designed by John Fought; the 18-hole Woodlands Course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and the 9-hole Caldera Links course is another Robert Cupp design.

Meadows features tremendous variety within its 18 holes, seven of which border the meandering Sunriver. Fought's design pays tribute to the great American courses from the 1920's and 30's with its aesthetic grace, while its dramatic use of directional and fore-bunkers serve up ample challenges for golfers of all skill levels.

The Meadows course has played host to numerous USGA and NCAA golf championships, including the 2006 NCAA Men's Division I championship tournament.

Have played here and in Central Oregon many times. The Meadows course (with afternoon pricing) is very competitive with other courses in the area for price and challenge. Every hole can be seen from the tee, so "what you see is what you get"--very helpful for Resort visitors playing the course for the first time. Greens are always pure. The afternoon risk, such as it is, involves slow play by occasional golfers at the Resort on family vacation. Sometimes it can be painful. Less risk if you pay more and play in the AM. However, the ambience is wonderful, the ball flies farther at 4100 ft, and in all my years playing here I have always been paired with interesting and enjoyable playing partners.

The only course played (one round) while on family vacation so I can't compare to others in the area. The condition of the fairways was excellent, the greens had recently been aerated so somewhat unfair to rate that. Some tight tree-lined fairways while others were pretty open, some houses along the course. If I had to say something negative it would be that despite what the brochure says I found the course to be pretty average in terms of scenery.

GREAT course -- you can score well here if you're on your game. The staff at the resort really takes care of you.
