Detailed description

Sea Pines Resort is a Resort, 54 hole golf facility located in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The facility has three championship 18-hole golf courses. They are Harbor Town Golf Links, Heron Point Golf Course, and Atlantic Dunes Golf Course.

Harbor Town Golf Links first opened for play in 1970. The course was designed by Pete Dye.

Harbour Town Golf Links, One Of The Most Distinguished PGA Tour Golf Courses where you too can play in the footsteps of legends. Home to the Verizon Heritage Tournament since 1969, this distinguished PGA Tour golf course places a premium on finesse, imagination, and shot-making rather than strength. Put your game to the ultimate test against a collection of par-threes ranking among the world' finest and a par-four 18th hole considered one of the most feared in all of golf - particularly when the wind is blowing off Calibogue Sound. This celebrated PGA golf course plays to 7,099 yards from the back tees, with a slope of 148 and a par of 71 and a #1 ranking in all of South Carolina by Golf Magazine.

Home of the Heritage Classic PGA golf tournament since 1969 - now known as Verizon Heritage - which has attracted such legends as Nicklaus, Palmer, Norman, and Love III.

Home to The Golf Academy of Hilton Head Island, at The Sea Pines Resort

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees, the course plays to 7,099 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,084 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 15, a par-5 that plays to 588 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 17, a par-3 that plays to 174 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 8, a 473-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Harbour Town Golf Course is # 14, a 192 yard par-3.

Played this course for the first time and it was a real treat. Yes the $400 green fee is about $150 too much but the course was perfect in every way. Great conditions, perfect greens, pure fairways and tees, and great bunkers. It was cart path only and was a 5 hour round but playing the course right after the pros was a challenge. You did have to take a fore caddie and that costs $40 more per player and although he was nice and knowledgable, his green reading skills were terrible. I suggest you let him tell you where to aim off the tee but then line up your own putts. A real challenge playing the last 5 holes when the wind comes up! Play this course at least once in your golfing life!

Needs to be on your have to play list, just like Old White at the Greenbrier. Had great caddy, fun time playing. Back nine is a lot more challenging than front, and my scorecard showed that !! Added to fun on this vacation.

Nice to play a famous course but not great conditions. To tight always feel like you have to steer the ball.

Over-rated. #17 & #18 very scenic great finishing holes, but mediocre front 9. Several local courses as good or better for far less $$... try Melrose. Very playable from white tees... shot 40 on the front before the slow play and hot weather did me in, ballooning to "friendly" 47 on back 9. No drinking water on practice range or before starting. #1 green closed and starter didn't tell us. Maintenance staff returning mowers to barn didn't give way to players, adding to delays and distractions. Great cart girl.

It is one of the great courses in the US; too bad its just too pricey to play regularly, and in the summer, the heat and pace of play make it unreasonable for the money.
