Detailed description

Waterwood National is a Private, 18 hole golf course located in Huntsville, Texas.

Waterwood National Golf Course first opened for play in 1974. The course was designed by Pete Dye.

The course has been rated as the second most difficult course in the Houston area by local publications. The design includes tight fairways with well-bunkered greens, plus water hazards come into play on thirteen holes. One of the best features of the course is the variety of holes it offers.

Waterwood measures 6,872 yards from the back tees. This par-71 course has a course rating of 73.7 and a slope rating of 142.

Up until 2009 this course was open to the public. However, the owner of the course closed the course to the public in 2009 and anticipates opening it again to the public at a later date. In the interim. the course is being used by the property owners of Waterwood and their guests. The course is being maintained by the HOA residents through voluntary contributions. Accordingly, the course is not being maintained to the standards of a professionally fully maintained and operating golf course.

A unique course that is very underutilized. A lot of variety. There are some homes on the course but not really close in most cases. Just a lot of fun to play.

Greens are in awfull condition. Almost unplayable. Course layout is Pete Dye and very good. Worth the $20 senior discounted price if you can stand the greens.
