Day 85 - 100 days, 100 courses (Thursday, June 6, 2019)

Today is my 85th day in a row playing golf and the 75th anniversary of D-Day. Thank God for their sacrifice in the name of freedom from tyranny.

Golf is a funny game.

You take 4 guys who have never met each other, put them on a course and 18 holes later they are cheering each other on, cracking jokes and talking trash.

I have met a lot of old friends on this tour and made a lot of new ones.

Westfield Golf Club was a great track with one of the most friendly staffs that I have run into. From the GM to the guy behind the lunch counter to the starter, they all made me feel at home and they made it a very enjoyable round.

Beautiful course right in the middle of over developed Fairfax County, Virginia. Lots of bunkers. Bring your wedge.

I just gotta play at least once a week during the summer...which relegates me to the cheaper tracks. when I get tired of playing them i go to Westfields. a bit pricey at $110. but course is always in great condition, always challenging, and ALL golf and nature (no houses). Treated myself to my last round there on Sept 13, 2009 ...two days before my arthroscopy. ...and one for the memories...Even par 71! my wife and son must have been good luck charms... i was 3 over at the turn when they joined me for the back nine...where i finished birdie, birdie, u/d par, and stiffed a choke-down 5-wood on my second shot of the 18th from 190yds for birdie...What a send off!

After extensive rain, the course was wet, but not soaked, and was playable (although cart-path only). Drainage is excellent -- no standing water anywhere, although the traps were flooded, so by local rule, starter informed us that traps were to be treated as ground under repair.

I would play the course again but not for $109. It is worth about $80 for the area. I also don't like to have cart jockeys cleaning my clubs and expect a tip. I would rather load and unload my own gear.

Pace of play monitored and encouraged. Winter course conditions are great and green fees significantly reduced. Driving range and putting green convenient to starter station. Nice club house and pro shop. Sam Adams on tap in frosted mugs.
